Social Media

Social Media is a powerful tool, often used in excellent ways. (See the school Twitter account for a wonderful example of positive Social Media in action: @StGilesCaritas), but we know it can be a risky subject.

So, what should my child be using?

The image below gives a clear outline of age restrictions on many popular social media sites:

Follow this link (click the above image) for some great advice on the main social media websites available. There is also a wonderful FAQ section covering things like: the basics about social media, age restrictions, keeping up to date, having the social networking 'talk' along with a huge selection of helpful bits and bobs.

Wait - so does that mean that my child can't use any safe social media websites?!
Not. One. Bit!

There are a huge selection of social media related websites available for under 13, with some fantastic resources out there. Follow the below link (click the Lego image) for a list of great social sites recommended for children aged 6-13! (I would definitely check out the above link first though, to find any possible answers to concerns that could crop up before your child registers!)
