Mr Huson named as a silver winner in National Teaching Awards
Wed 18 Jun 2025We are celebrating the momentous achievement of one of our dedicated teaching staff, Mr Jack Huson, being named a 2025 Silver Winner in the prestigious Pearson National Teaching Awards.
This highly respected national accolade recognises the outstanding commitment and passion that Mr Huson brings to the classroom every day. As a Silver Award recipient, he now goes forward to be considered for a coveted Gold Teaching Award, with national winners to be announced at a ceremony in November.

This achievement highlights the school’s commitment to excellence in education and its dedication to fostering a nurturing and inspiring environment for all pupils.
The Executive Principal, Mr E. Howard, reflected on this remarkable achievement, sharing:

Not only has Ofsted rated St Filumena’s as Outstanding in all areas, but the school has also received national recognition for its academic excellence. St Filumena’s is in the top 1% of primary schools nationwide for Year 1 phonics and Year 6 outcomes and is one of the top 200 schools nationally for the Year 4 multiplication check. Letters from the Minister of Schools praised these results, highlighting the exceptional dedication of the staff and pupils in fostering a love for learning and high academic standards.
St Filumena’s motto, “I am loved,” continues to guide its mission of empowering every pupil to achieve their full potential as unique individuals. This award reaffirms the school’s vision of combining academic success with strong moral values and personal development, ensuring pupils leave as happy, responsible, and tolerant citizens.

Caverswall Creative Hub Arts Trail - Come & Explore!

The aim of the Community Arts Trail is to foster connections among local businesses, promote their presence, and enhance community wellbeing.
Arts workshops have taken place with schools and community groups to create some fantastic art work. Each workshop was based around a theme connected to the local area, carrying a distinctive and meaningful message linked to place and heritage.
The original work created is now displayed for everyone to enjoy!
